Dave is the Owner/Trainer/Dogsbody behind DWS Training; he is a Member of the British Computer Society and a Chartered IT Professional. He delivers training for DWS Training, specialising in Microsoft products and Computer Hardware and a number of esoteric subjects such as Linux and Apple OSX.
Dave began working in Information Technology when Computers were bigger than your living room but had less power than your mobile phone. He has progressed through all the jobs from Service desk to project manager, Manager and Service Delivery Manager. He managed a group of 50 technicians at Fujitsu Services but left to save his sanity. He started DWS Training in August 2008 to provide help for organisations to make the best use of IT in Business. His combination of both practical Business and Technology skills has kept DWS Training successful. As one of his clients was kind enough to put it:-
“The combination of understanding both of business and how IT relates to business is rare; having both, and using it to client advantage, is worth loads.”
A partial list of companies that Dave has personally assisted with Consultancy or Training include British Housing Association, Rotherham Council, Paramount Training, Mercury Communications, Greater Manchester Police, Halliwell Befriending Society and Asian Elders Group
He is passionate about teaching people there is much more they can do with the magical devices we call Personal Computers than just adding up a list of numbers or putting a bulleted list of ten points on a slide.
STEPH
The quiet genius that keeps Dave in check, Steph helped Dave build DWS Training in 2008. Previously employed working in schools, she has over 2 years’ experience of delivering IT training within the local community to diverse groups including people with physical and mental problems and ethnic minority communities.
Steph’s introduction to Computers came when Dave spent time showing her how to build a database. Despite Dave’s poor attempt at training (well it was 1990), Steph went on to master this application, and every other program she has used subsequently. She now has an in-depth knowledge of all Microsoft’s desktop suite, from Office 2000 onwards.
She regularly delivers courses in office applications at all levels of expertise, from absolute beginners to the more advanced. Her specialist areas are Microsoft Applications and OpenOffice. When not working, Steph likes spending time with her family which is very important to her.
